Chelsea boss, Frank Lampard has disclosed why he dropped goalkeeper, Kepa Arrizabalaga from his side’s starting XI against Leicester City in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
Lampard opted to start Willy Caballero ahead of Kepa against Brendan Rodgers’ side at the King Power Stadium.
The ex-midfield maestro says he decided to start Caballero ahead of Kepa because he trusts the 38-year-old Argentine shot-stopper.
Asked why he started Caballero ahead of Kepa, Lampard was quoted by Metro UK as saying before the kick-off: “It’s a decision I have not taken lightly.
“It’s a decision I’ve made and I think with goalkeepers it’s one I don’t take lightly.”
“They train together, they are close and it’s one I thought I’d make for this game. I trust in Willy, he’s very professional.
“They are a very good team, we played them earlier in the season and we saw that, so we’ll need to be really competitive.”
