Roy Keane reveals why Maguire was not shown red card against Chelsea

Former Manchester United captain, Roy Keane, has claimed Harry Maguire was lucky not to be sent off in their 2-0 win over Chelsea on Monday.

Maguire appeared to kick out at Michy Batshuayi during the first half of the game at Stamford Bridge.

The England defender was on the floor and his studs made contact with Batshuayi’s groin area.

Although the Chelsea bench protested after the incident, VAR ruled that there was no dangerous play.

Maguire went on to score United’s second goal, as they left with maximum points.

However, at half-time, Sky Sports pundit Roy Keane felt Maguire was fortunate not to be sent off.

“He’s a lucky, lucky boy. Maguire, maybe because it’s his personality, a calm lad, but he definitely kicks out,” Keane said on Sky Sports during the break.

After watching Maguire’s interview after the game he added: “His personality helped him, he comes across as a decent guy, it’s a decent excuse, but he’s a lucky boy.”
