MRS OBASEKI ASSURES WOMEN OF MORE EMPOWERMENT

The wife of the Edo State Governor, Her Excellency, Mrs. Betsy Obaseki and the wife of the deputy Governor, Mrs. Marian Shaibu on Wednesday received a rousing welcome to Uromi, headquarters of Esan North East Local Government Area of Edo State, during their campaign visit.

The campaign visit was designed to create an atmosphere for the governor’s wife and the wife of the deputy Governor to address the women from Esan South East and Esan North East Local Government Areas.

The atmosphere at the Okpuje Primary School in Uromi, the venue of the campaign event suddenly turned into a frenzy when the governor’s wife and her entourage made their way into the primary.

Addressing the women, the wife of the governor, told the women that her husband was a governor with high regard for women hence had appointed many women in his government and had equally empowered many women across the 18 local government of the the state.

She therefore called on them to reelect her husband to be the governor, and Philip Shaibu to be the deputy Governor, in order to take the performance to the next level.

The wife of the deputy governor, Mrs. Marian Shaibu who spoke in similar vein, urged the women to thumb print for umbrella, the symbol of PDP, on the day of election to elect Obaseki as governor and her husband as deputy governor.

She cautioned that they should not fall for deceptive underground campaign of some elements of opposition party, who were going about telling some supporters of Obaseki at the grassroots that the governor was still in APC

The Chairman of Esan North East Local Government Area, Hon. Austine Okoibhole who mobilized women and youths to the venue, said the crowd at the campaign venue was a clear testament of the popularity of the governor in the local government, and the decision of the local government to vote massively for Governor Obaseki.

Before departing the campaign venue, the governor’s wife handed over bags of food items which were distributed to the women from both local government areas.
