Special Adviser to Edo State Governor on Media and Communication Strategy, Crusoe Osagie, has said “that the planned Saturday visit to Ekosodin area of Benin City by candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the September 19 gubernatorial election, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, and cast aspersions on the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration, will not help his low public rating.”
The governor’s aide who said this in Benin City, on Friday, noted: “We received information that the APC candidate plans to visit ongoing projects in Ekosodin and cast aspersions on the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration.”
He explained that, “The ongoing road projects were embarked upon by Governor Obaseki, to open up the area after decades of neglect by previous administrations, despite playing host to a large number of Edo people, including a large community of University of Benin students.”
According to him, “The APC has been rejected by Edo people as we saw in their hurried and abysmal campaign, so they have decided to throw up dust to distract Edo people.
“But this strategy is dead on arrival because Edo people can see through APC’s manipulations and lies even before the lies are told.”
He added: “If APC has any convincing message for Edo people, why did they hurriedly call off their campaigns when political parties still have about one month to vigorously woo voters with their programmes and policies?
“Well the answer is simple, Edo people have resolved to re-elect Governor Obaseki and APC got this message clearly during their campaigns.
“Their latest trick will not work in Edo State because Edo people are unanimous in their decision to keep Obaseki for another term in office. Obaseki’s achievements and his Making Edo Great Again (MEGA) manifesto have put the PDP candidate’s rating at an all-time high.”
