These are some of the darkest moments in the political history of Edo State. Dreadful clouds are crawling over our political horizon principally because of the treasonable opportunistic perchance of two disgraced politicians in our environment.
The 2020 gubernatorial contest is witnessing a bizarre theatre particularly with the two despicable actors and the failed characters of Adams Oshiomhole and Osagie Ize-Iyamu.
Characterized with a noxious deficit of moral compass, the dubious duo of Oshiomhole and Ize-Iyamu are running around the state with all desperation attempting to negate and twist the facts of history.
In a manner that is profoundly embarrassing, Oshiomhole is now akin to a street- sweeper, although scrubbing, crawling and apologizing to all kind of gatherings on his knees; Oshiomhole is engaged in disingenuous confessional outpourings, recounting all what he said against Ize-Iyamu in 2016. If there was an apt definition of fake theatrics and acrobatics in politics, the current patently counterfeit third rate manually-operated Cinema by Oshiomhole will qualify as one.
Who else somersaults so obnoxiously in such a public arena, right there in the presence of the very man he so publicly denigrated in 2016, to declare that everything he said at that time during the campaign against Ize-Iyamu were all lies. Oshiomhole is now saying that he didn’t really mean to say that Ize-Iyamu cannot be trusted to be in the proximity of Edo State treasury.
The expelled APC member is pretending that the irredeemable profile of Ize-Iyamu, as an incurable kleptomania, was his ( Oshiomhole) exclusive knowledge. Indeed, far beyond Oshiomhole’s personal awareness, Ize-Iyamu’s matrimony to unconscionable theft of our commonwealth was legendry especially in his regime as Chief of Staff and Secretary to Edo State Government.
It is so repulsive watching Ize-Iyamu , almost childishly latching to Oshiomhole, while the ex-governor sinks into his now contorted ecstasy of apology while attempting a fresh political baptism for a supposed adult Baby Ize-Iyamu. There was the Biblical story of the Prodigal Son, but today in Edo State, we are watching the repugnant naked dance of the Prodigal Son and a Prodigal Father.
There is no scriptural paradigm to forgetting or forgiving in this circumstance especially in the absence of contrition as an obligatory precondition for political and moral rehabilitation. These two characters are prepared to lie brazenly even at the altar of confession in their inordinate quest for political power grab.
How can Edo people forget their years in Ize-Iyamu’s Philistine? History must have consequence. Does anyone wonder why the ‘’FAKE PASTOR’’ (according to the then ‘Prophet Jeremiah’ Oshiomhole) has not all through his campaign, made any specific reference to his achievements, while in the apex of government?
Rather, the Edo electorate is now being bombarded with a spurious, jumbled political manifesto called the Simple Agenda. The Simple Agenda is nothing but a scripted puzzle in facilitation of monumental economic and political fraud. One could literally emblazon a Caveat Emptor on Ize-Iyamu and his Simple Agenda, warning Edo people that the salesman of glittering, dubious empty promises is back in town.
The one remarkable difference from 2016 is that Ize-Iyamu is now being piloted by a banished and bastardized former APC national Chairman.
So, instead of seeking moral edification, Ize-Iyamu sank further into the abyss of morass.
Four years after his previous gubernatorial run, Ize-Iyamu, remains the same atrociously debased politician that Edo people rejected with vehemence in the September 28th 2016 election, the electorate will do so again with wider margin in the September 19th 2020 contest.
Just as the children of Israel did not return for another journey through the Red Sea, Edo people will not seek to recede into the dreadful times that Ize-Iyamu symbolized when he was given the opportunity to serve in powerful positions of responsibility.
Trash the Simple Agenda because it is a dangerous fiction. The document is pushing the political equivalent of the gospel that there were 13 disciples. Ize-Iyamu has once destroyed the trust endowed in him by the people, it is in his nature to betray and squander the peoples’ hopes and aspirations again. This is the call of History. Edo electorate must rise to defend our cherished Democracy. The time to do so is now.
