…. as women turn down lawmaker’s overtures, vow to vote Governor Obaseki..

The above themed subject seems to be the recurrent question posed to the lawmaker representing Ovia Federal Constituency Hon. Dennis Idahosa by women and daughters of Ovia at virtually all the campaign rallies organised by the embattled lawmaker in recent times.

The embarrassing barrage of questions being hurled at the face of the lawmaker had assumed a worsening dimension as almost all rallies organised by the lawmaker have all ended in a fiasco with the lawmaker and his aides instructing those present including journalists and reporters who record such videos to turn off their cameras for fear of being mass mocked by the infuriated women who vented their frustrations at Hon. Dennis Idahosa for reneging on his promise to donate fifty percent of his salaries and allowances as a means of empowering them when elected as their representative at the House of Representatives at the last general elections in 2019.

Some of the women wondered while fourteen months after Dennis Idahosa got sworn in as a federal lawmaker he has nothing to write home about, and instead of keeping to his electioneering promises have now decided to come again to deceive them to vote for his preferred governorship candidate of the APC, Pastor Ize Iyamu abandoning them who toiled and labored tenaciously for his election victory in the lurch.

One of the angry women, Mrs Amenze Oviawe who was one of the campaign mobilisers for Hon. Idahosa at Ufunama recalled how Hon. Idahosa promised to give fifty percent of his salaries and allowances to widows, market women and the elderly if elected and up till now he hadn’t kept good to his promises, making them look like fools in the eyes of their fellow women who they mobilised out on election day to vote for him. ‘ Now we know and see what Omosede Igbinedion warned us about DENCO, that he is a deceiver and a fraud, he only used us for his election and dumped us subsequently, he no longer listens to our requests, and now he even has the effrontery to come again to beg us to support Ize Iyamu for Governor as if we are tools in his hands, we are waiting for him during the election on September 19th, we will answer him then, Madam Igbinijesu remarked’.

Sources close to the Edo APC Campaign Council are apparently worried at the wildfire popularity of the PDP governorship candidate and incumbent Governor of Edo State, Governor Godwin Obaseki who is winning hearts and minds daily in virtually all the wards in both Ovia North East and Ovia South West local government areas where Hon. Dennis Idahosa was first thought to hold sway in, as that doesn’t seem to be the situation at present, as most women and youth groups as well as the elderly have all declared support for the reelection of Governor Godwin Obaseki and the PDP and are set to troop out to show their overwhelming support and solidarity with the governor to enable him return for a second term in office.

The die is cast for the APC and Hon. Dennis Idahosa as the women have all vowed to shun the Greek gift overtures of the lawmaker and have instead reiterated their position to vote for Governor Godwin Obaseki and the PDP come September 19th 2020.
